First things first, each affiliate network offers different campaigns. Personally I would suggest joining an affiliate marketing network that offers the highest payouts but thats just me.
I’ve only joined one affiliate network so far, but I can give you an example of what their campaigns look like.

Personally I like the campaigns they offer.
It depends on what you want in an affiliate network. What you feel like advertising. Its not easy starting out thats for sure. It takes time to enter a niche and do research. You really dont start making money until you completely check out the niche, look at your competition, and figure out your game plan. -For me I try to target long tail keywords because in the end they produce just as well as one or two broad keywords.
If you think about it, being number one for a group of specific keywords is always better than just one broad keyword. Plus, when your hitting long tail keywords you are also helping your efforts with that one keyword. If its in your long tail that is.
